Success Tip, Practice, Practice, Practice
By arbutuscoaching | September 22, 2009
There’s a truism/joke that goes, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice.” Malcolm Gladwell, the author of the thought-provoking books, Blink, The Tipping Point and Outliers: The Story of Success points out in the last book listed that in his study of success, successful people have at least10,000 hours of practice. And this is what makes them great, along with some opportunities that others might not have had along the way.
We learn what Bill Gates, the Beatles and Mozart had in common: along with talent and ambition, each enjoyed an unusual opportunity to intensively cultivate a skill that allowed them to rise above their peers. The good news is that while some are given these opportunities, you can cultivate your own, by building a passion for excellence and by practicing, practicing, practicing. Instead of being jealous or envying the person who has the skills that you desire, schedule more time into your schedule to get better at your craft. By doing so, you’ll increase the chances that you will become a leader in your field. See you at Carnegie Hall!
